Maha Dhanvantari Homam is a primary ritual performed by invoking the divine grace and healing power of Lord Dhanvantari, an avatar of Lord Mahavishnu.

Homam Specialty: The homam is performed amidst the powerful chanting of the Dhanvantari Moola Mantras, Dhanvantari Gayatri, Vishnu Sahasranamam, and Amrita Sanjeevini Stotrams.
Agni Diksha (Fire Offering): As rare medicinal herbs, tulsi, divine nectar ingredients, ghee, fruits, and honey are offered into the sacred fire, all diseases and negative energies surrounding the devotees are reduced to ashes.

Puranic Wonders

According to the Puranas, due to continuous wars between the Devas and Asuras and the curse of Sage Durvasa, the Devas lost their strength, wealth, and health, becoming aged and weakened. As advised by Lord Brahma, to regain their lost power and attain immortality, the Devas and Asuras churned the Cosmic Milk Ocean (Thirupaarkadal) using the serpent Vasuki as the rope and Mount Mandara as the churning rod. Following the appearance of Kamadhenu, Airavata, Kalpavriksha, and Goddess Mahalakshmi from the ocean of milk, Lord Sri Dhanvantari manifested as a magnificent beam of light. Appearing with lotus-like eyes and holding the pot of nectar, a conch, a discus, and medicinal herbs in His four hands, He offered Amrita (nectar) to the Devas, freeing them from diseases and old age, bestowing eternal life.
