Importance of Puja in the Kalashtami Mahamuhurat
In the scriptures, the Kalashtami tithi is considered very fruitful for the sadhana of the Das-Mahavidyas. On the holy land of the himachal region, on the day of Kalashtami, the “Kavach Path” of the fierce Devi Pratyangira, done along with Pitambara Maa Baglamukhi, gives protection from all kinds of enemies, and the “21 Kilo Red Chilli Havan” is said to bring the stambhan of enemies and the destruction of negative powers in a moment.

Effect of the 21 Kilo Red Chilli Havan
Maa Baglamukhi is the Devi who does the stambhan of an enemy’s speech, intellect and movement, while Devi Pratyangira, the destroyer of enemies, turns any negative energy and tantrik effect back on the one who sent it. According to Tantra Shastra, offering 21 kilos of sharp red chilli (a kantak/katu dravya, a pungent substance) in the name of Maa Pratyangira and Maa Baglamukhi is considered the most sure remedy for destroying enemies and calming obstacles. The energy released by the sharp red chilli offerings burns the evil plots, jealousy, litigation and tantrik attacks of enemies in the fire and creates a protective shield (kavach) in your life.

Glory of Maa Baglamukhi and Maa Pratyangira
In the scriptures, Maa Baglamukhi is called the 8th power of the Das Mahavidyas, “Brahmastra-roopini.” According to legend, when the demon Madanasur received a boon from Brahma Ji that every word he spoke would come true, he caused destruction with his vak-siddhi. He would burn sages and kings to ash just by speaking. Then, at the call of the Devtas, Maa Pitambara Maa Baglamukhi appeared, and just as Madanasur opened his mouth to attack the Devi, Maa Baglamukhi pulled out his tongue, did the “stambhan” (paralysis) of his power, and ended him with her mace. This same stambhan miracle of the Mata still ties down the tongue and evil thinking of enemies, court cases and opponents today.
In the scriptures, Maa Pratyangira is considered one of the most intense and fierce powers. According to legend, during the Ramayana war, Meghnad, facing defeat in battle, was about to perform a secret anushthan and the Nikumbhila Yagya of this same Devi. It is believed that if Meghnad had completed this anushthan, it would have become impossible to kill him in battle. That is why, on the advice of Vibhishan, Lakshman Ji did not let Meghnad’s yagya be completed. The glory of Maa Pratyangira is that she not only stops the attack of tantra and plots done by enemies, but turns it back on the attacker with double force.

The Divine History of the Bhakhali Pandoh Temple
The Maa Baglamukhi Temple at Bhakhali (Pandoh), on the bank of the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh, is a very ancient Pitambara peeth.
