Importance of the Puja in the Bhanu Saptami Mahamuhurat
According to Jyotish Shastra, the Saptami tithi that falls on a Sunday is called “Bhanu Saptami.” It is the most beloved tithi of Surya Dev, the karak of the soul and the king of all Grahs. It is believed that because it is Surya Dev’s special tithi, this Bhanu Saptami tithi is very special for the peace of all nine Grahs and for their good results. On this tithi, when the Navgrah-Samput Path and the Navgrah-Shanti Mahayagya are done in Kashi in the presence of Lord Kaal Bhairav, the “controller of the Grahs,” even the fiercest Grah-Doshas in the kundli are calmed, and the devotee begins to receive the good results of the Navgrahs.

Glory of the Navgrah-Samput and Kaal Bhairav Grah-Shanti Mahayagya
In Vedic Jyotish, the “Navgrah-Samput” is very powerful for Grah shanti. In it, the Navgrah mantras are chanted and offered in the fire together with a Samput of special protective mantras. It is believed that with the Samput, the energy of the mantra does not scatter, and it directly has a positive effect on the afflicted Grahs in the sadhak’s kundli.
The Kaal Bhairav Navgrah-Shanti Mahayagya is a special Vedic anushthan dedicated to Lord Kaal Bhairav, the fierce and protective form of Lord Shiv. It is believed that Lord Kaal Bhairav is the controller of time and the movement of the Grahs. When this Mahayagya is done in the supreme Dham of Kaal Bhairav, the bad effects of cruel Grahs like Rahu-Ketu and Shani in the janam kundli end, and balance comes into life.

Why is Kaal Bhairav the controller of the Navgrahs?
Lord Kaal Bhairav is the fifth and one of the most fierce Rudra avatars of Lord Shiv. According to Mythology, when the movement of the nine Grahs went wrong in the universe and the cruel effect of Rahu-Ketu began to grow, the Devtas, suffering from this, went to Lord Shiv for shelter. On Mahadev’s command, to control the Navgrahs and save the Devtas from trouble, Lord Kaal Bhairav, the fierce form of Lord Shiv, appeared. Seeing Kaal Bhairav’s roar and his fierce speed, all the Navgrahs, including Shani Dev, surrendered at his feet and gave their word that any devotee who comes to Baba Bhairav’s shelter will be freed from Grah pain and the evil eye forever. Since then, Lord Kaal Bhairav is considered the controller of the Navgrahs.
