In Sanatan Dharma, 'Putra Kameshti Yagya' is considered the first, most authentic, and infallible Anushthan for obtaining offspring. During the Ramayana era, when the King of Ayodhya, Maharaja Dasharatha, had no children and his lineage was in crisis, Maharshi Shringi performed the sacred 'Putra Kameshti Yagya' upon the order of Maharshi Vashishtha. By the influence of the Charu (Havishya) that emerged from the oblations of this divine Yagya, Lord Shri Ram, Lakshman, Bharata, and Shatrughna were born.
