Purpose of This Mahayagya

Importance of This Puja in this Mahamuhurat
This Muhurat is dedicated to the fierce and protective form of Maa Mahakali and to Lord Shani Dev, the god of justice. This muhurat is also considered very fruitful for calming enemy obstacles and Shani Dosh. It is believed that sadhana done on this special tithi and muhurat destroys enemies, fear, tantra-badha, the evil eye and negative powers from the root. On this tithi, getting Maa Kali, Shani Dev and Sankat Mochan Hanuman worshipped together ends all the troubles and gives protection to the family.

Glory of Maa Mahakali, Shani Dev and Sankat Mochan Hanuman

Maa Mahakali is the first of the Das Mahavidyas and the supreme destroying power who gives victory over Kaal. When countless demons were being born from every drop of the blood of demons like Raktabeej, and even the Devtas were being defeated, Maa Mahakali appeared in her terrible form, caught all his blood in her khappar (bowl), and destroyed him. It is believed that Kalighat is the holy Peeth where the Mother lives in person. Any devotee who meditates on the Mother here with a sincere heart, the Mother destroys his enemies and negative powers from the root.
Shani Dev is the giver of the fruits of karma and the supreme Dandnayak (enforcer of justice). Shani Dev gives quick punishment to unjust enemies and conspirators for their bad deeds. According to the Purans, when the proud Ravan had taken the Navgrahs captive, he had hung Shani Dev upside down in Lanka. When Mahavir Hanuman Ji freed Shani Dev at the time of the burning of Lanka, Shani Dev gave his word that Shani’s pain would never trouble anyone who comes to Hanuman Ji’s shelter.

Sankat Mochan Hanuman is the 11th Rudra avatar and the remover of all troubles. Even in removing the troubles of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu’s Ram avatar, Mahavir Hanuman was always at the front. Whether it was finding Mata Sita or saving brother Lakshman’s life, Bajrang Bali removed all of Prabhu Shri Ram’s troubles. It is believed that worship of Hanuman Ji removes all troubles.

“नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा, जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा”
Meaning: A person who constantly remembers the name of Hanuman Ji is quickly freed from all illness, sorrow, the obstacles of ghosts and spirits, and mental stress.

The Divine History of the Kalighat Shaktipeeth:
In Sanatan tradition, the Kalighat Temple in Kolkata is considered the most important of the 51 holy Shaktipeeths and one of the Siddh Peeths. According to legend, when Lord Vishnu cut the body of Maa Sati with his Sudarshan Chakra, the toes of Maa Sati’s left foot (angapat) fell here. Here Maa Mahakali sits in her very Jagrat and loving (vatsalya) form. This is such a divine court in the world where the troubles of devotees coming from India and abroad are removed.
