Importance of Mangal Dev and his favored Bajrangbali Puja on Tuesday
In Vedic Jyotish, Tuesday is dedicated to Lord Mangal Dev, the commander of the Grahs, and his favored Sankat Mochan Hanuman. It is believed that when Mangal Dev, who is of a very fierce nature, is worshipped on Tuesday together with his favored Bajrangbali, the Mangal Dosh in the kundli is calmed, and by Bajrangbali’s grace the negative energy in life is also calmed. According to the scriptures, when the Mangal Grah Shanti Mantra is chanted 7,000 times, the energy of a weak or fierce Mangal in the kundli is balanced and calms the negative effects of Mangal Dosh. Also, the waves that come from the fire and special mantra chanting of the Hanuman Suraksha Maha-Havan are said to destroy all negative energies.

According to the legend of the “Avanti Khand” of the Skand Puran, in ancient times a demon named Andhakasur, after receiving a boon from Shiv Ji, caused an uproar in all three worlds. When Andhakasur’s cruelty grew very much, Lord Shiv himself fought him. During the battle, a drop of sweat from Mahadev’s body fell on this holy land of Ujjain. From that drop, a divine child with a red complexion was born from the womb of Mother Earth, who was named “Mangal Dev.”
As soon as he was born, Mangal Dev drank the blood of Andhakasur, after which Lord Shiv killed the demon. Since Mangal Dev was born from Mahadev’s tej and the womb of the Earth, he is also called “Bhaum.” That is why direct authority over land, houses and property is considered to belong to Mangal Dev. If Mangal is debilitated in the kundli, land disputes are seen in the family. So, according to the Purans, when troubled by land disputes, the shanti of Mangal Grah should be done. It is believed that getting the 7,000-time Mangal Grah Shanti Mantra Jaap done at the Mangalnath Temple in Ujjain, the birthplace of Mangal Dev, gives complete freedom from Mangal Dosh.

Sankat Mochan Hanuman, the 11th Rudra avatar of Lord Shiv, is the most Jagrat and powerful Dev of Kalyug. It is believed that even by his name alone, the biggest negative powers run away at once. According to legends, during the Ramayana war, when Ahiravan took Lord Ram and Lakshman away to Patal Lok with his negative powers and tantrik maya, Hanuman Ji took the Panchmukhi form, ended Ahiravan’s evil powers and freed Lord Ram and Lakshman from his captivity. It is believed that just as Hanuman Ji protected Lord Ram and Lakshman from Ahiravan’s negative powers, in the same way, by getting the Hanuman Suraksha Maha-Havan done, the negativity spread in life is destroyed, and Bajrangbali protects the devotee from evil powers.
