History of the Navgrah Shani Temple

The Legend of Samrat Vikramaditya: According to legend, when Sade Sati of Shani came on King Vikramaditya, he had to bear great suffering. Then he did severe tapasya of Shani Dev at this Triveni Sangam and installed him in the form of a Shivling. Shani Dev, pleased, freed him from his troubles and gave back his kingdom.

Shani Dev in Shiv form: King Vikramaditya installed Shani Dev here not in an ordinary form, but in the form of a “Shivling.” It is believed that doing Til Tailabhishek of Shani Dev in his Shiv form in the Mahakal region ends the effect of even the biggest Grah Doshas.
