Why is the Anushthan Special in the Labh Panchami Mahamuhurat?

In Jyotish Shastra, the Panchami tithi that comes after Deepawali is called Labh Panchami or Shriprada, and it is considered the tithi that “binds” Laxmi. According to legend, worshipping Ashtalaxmi on this day makes Maa Laxmi give up her restlessness and live permanently in the devotee’s home or business place. According to legends, doing the Kanakdhara Stotra Path and the Rin Mukti Yagya on Labh Panchami burns away negative waves through Agni Dev, because of which stuck money comes back and a flow of new wealth begins. 

Importance of Ashta Lakshmi Pujan

On the divine tithi Labh Panchamii, worshipping all eight forms of Mahalakshmi as Adi Lakshmi, Dhanya Lakshmi, Dhairya Lakshmi, Gaja Lakshmi, Santana Lakshmi, Vijaya Lakshmi, Vidya Lakshmi, and Dhana Lakshmi bestows the Ashta Nidhi:

1. Adi Lakshmi: Spiritual strength and mental peace

2. Dhana Lakshmi: Wealth, riches, and comforts

3. Dhanya Lakshmi: Abundance of food grains and agricultural prosperity

Lakshmi-Kuber Debt-Relief Yagya

When financial crises persist despite persistent effort, debts continue to mount, and pathways to clear them seem closed, life becomes mentally and socially burdensome. It is believed that this occurs due to the lack of grace of Mahalakshmi and Lord Kuber. The Lakshmi-Kuber Yagya bestows immense wealth, prosperity, peace, and happiness in life.

Wealth-Attaining Kanakdhara Stotra Recitation

सम्पत्कराणि सकलेन्द्रियनन्दनानि,
साम्राज्यदानविभवानि सरोरुहाक्षि ।
त्वद्वन्दनानि दुरितोद्धरणोद्यतानि,
मामेव मातरनिशं कलयन्तु मान्ये ॥

Meaning: The verse of this Kanakdhara Stotra means, O lotus-eyed Mother Lakshmi! Salutations and worship to you bestow all forms of wealth, delight all senses, and hold the capacity to grant immense kingdoms and splendor. This worship instantly removes all sins and sufferings.

It is believed that when Adi Shankaracharya begged for alms at the house of a poor, destitute woman, she humbly offered him a single dried gooseberry (amla) as her only possession. Deeply moved, Shankaracharya composed this divine stotra on the spot to please Mother Lakshmi, resulting in a shower of golden gooseberries (kanak) upon her home.
