During the sacred month of Karthika Masam, devotees worship Lord Shiva with the belief that His divine blessings bring relief from difficulties, good health, prosperity, happiness, and the fulfilment of wishes. Among all days, Karthika Mondays hold special significance for Shiva worship. Since Monday is considered dear to Lord Shiva, performing Abhishekams and Archana on these days is believed to bring special spiritual merit.
The Prabhasa Khanda of the Skanda Purana, Chapter 25, and the Rudra Samhitas of the Shiva Purana describe the significance of Lord Shiva's worship. Sacred rituals such as Bilvarchana and Rudrabhishekam are traditionally associated with the fulfilment of wishes and the attainment of auspicious blessings.
With the intention of seeking the divine grace of Lord Shiva during this holy month, Vedamandir is conducting four special Shiva Pujas across four great Shiva Kshetrams on four sacred Karthika Mondays. Devotees can participate in these sacred rituals, including Maha Mrityunjaya Japa, Rudrabhishekam, Laksha Bilvarchana, and Parthiva Linga Abhishekam, and pray for good health, prosperity, relief from financial difficulties, success in endeavours, and family well-being.
Lord Shiva's Mrityunjaya form is worshipped as the divine protector who blesses devotees with fearlessness and protection. The Tryambaka Mantra is mentioned in the Rig Veda, Mandala 7, Sukta 59, Mantra 12. The Rudra Samhita of the Shiva Purana also describes the significance of Mrityunjaya Vidya.
Chanting this sacred mantra is traditionally believed to bless devotees with good health, longevity, protection from unforeseen dangers, and mental strength. With this intention, 1.25 lakh Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra Japa is being performed at the Mahamrityunjaya Mandir in the sacred city of Kashi. Rudrabhishekam will also be performed amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras.
A story in the Shiva Purana also mentions Kavyamuni seeking the sacred city of Varanasi for Mrityunjaya worship. Devotees can participate in these sacred rituals and pray to Lord Shiva for good health, protection from untimely dangers, and the well-being of their families.
Rudrabhishekam holds a special place in the worship of Lord Shiva. The Namakam and Chamakam mantras from Sri Rudram, mentioned in the Taittiriya Samhita 4.5 of the Krishna Yajurveda, are chanted while performing this sacred Abhishekam.
As part of this special ritual, the Shiva Lingam is offered Abhishekam with sugarcane juice, which is considered a symbol of sweetness. Through this worship, devotees pray for the removal of bitterness from life and the arrival of happiness, harmony in family relationships, marital bliss, wealth, and prosperity.
The Arunachala Mahatmyam of the Skanda Purana describes Lord Arunachaleswara as the divine manifestation of the eternal flame. Arunachala is renowned as the Agni Lingam among the Pancha Bhoota Kshetrams.
This sacred ritual is being performed at the Balasundareswarar Temple in Arunachala. Devotees can participate in this unique Rudrabhishekam with sugarcane juice and pray to Lord Shiva for sweetness in life, prosperity, family happiness, and overall well-being.
The Vidyeshwara Samhita of the Shiva Purana describes the offering of Bilva leaves as one of the most sacred forms of worship to Lord Shiva, believed to bestow divine blessings.
Sacred Bhasma (holy ash) reminds devotees of the temporary nature of worldly existence and represents the spiritual principle of detachment.
As part of this special ritual, the Spatika Shiva Lingam is worshipped with Bhasmabhishekam, followed by the offering of one lakh Bilva leaves while chanting the divine names of Lord Shiva.
Through this sacred worship, devotees pray for relief from past sins, peace from doshas, prosperity, mental peace, and success in all endeavours.
These rituals are being performed at the Kashi Vishwanath Mahadev Mandir in the holy city of Ujjain. Ujjain is also described in the Kotirudra Samhita of the Shiva Purana.

Rameswaram, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlinga Kshetrams, is closely associated with Lord Rama's worship of Lord Shiva. The Setu Mahatmyam of the Skanda Purana describes the spiritual significance of this holy Kshetram.
In this sacred city of Rameswaram, the Parthiva Lingam is ceremonially installed and worshipped with Abhishekam and Archana amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras.
